Recently, I discovered the book, Curly Girl: the Handbook. The book’s purpose is to “teach” girls with curly hair how to love and care for their hair… and how to set their curls free.
For years, YEARS, I’ve attempted to tame my curls– I’ve used hot rollers, blow dryers, paddle brushes, curling irons, flat irons, regular clothes irons, creams, gels, sprays, balms, putties, waxes, pastes, mousse, pomades, clips, scarves, hats, barrettes, scrunchies, headbands, bobby-pins, elastics, etc. etc. etc.
Straightening took hours (unless professionally done) and hair would often just turn into a frizz-ball by day’s end…
Today, I decided to try some of the tips from the book and actually left the house and went to work sporting my VERY OWN HAIR– natural Botticelli curls. So, this is ME– after a simple “conditioner wash,” two-minutes of towel drying, and a dollop-sized amount of clear gel…

(hey… maybe next week I’ll feature my very own ABS!)
