[30-something Female to her Friend at the Bar]: ”My boss has been such a bitch lately. When she gets on my shit, I just go quiet. She hates that. She’s afraid of me when I go quiet. I know ’cause she leaves me alone… “
Now, I’m not really sure why I found this little coversation so humorous, but I did. Not knowing her, or her boss, I really can’t give an opinion as to whether or not I agree with her perception of her boss being afraid of her when she “goes quiet.” However, having been in a prior management position, whenever I’ve been a “bitch” and given an employee “shit,” I’ve never once left them alone OUT OF FEAR when they’ve finally “gone quiet.” More likely, I’ve chosen to leave them alone ’cause–
I’m thrilled that they finally shut the fuck up
I’ve decided that this particular ”battle” isn’t worth the fight
I’ve been totally oblivious to the fact that there was/is a problem
I’ve intentionally CHOSEN to ignore the “problem”
I’m aware that they think I’m afraid, and have allowed them to believe so
Tsk, tsk… me thinks someone at the bar needs to read “Art of War.” I’ve always thought that underestimating an individual– any individual– is a GRAVE MISTAKE. Besides, why would anyone want to intentionally upset the boss? You may want to sleep with them to “get ahead” in the future. Why fuck up a potential future opportunity?
