Monday’s Nun
May 12, 2008
Excuse me. Don’t you think that’s a little personal. Especially from a stranger?
Not sure why I felt so offended. Guilt maybe (??). Having been raised Catholic and “abondoning” my faith, maybe I just didn’t have the courage to fess up and say, “I don’t belong to any church.”
What’s so wrong with that answer (??). Why couldn’t I comfortably answer the question.
Why did I feel the need to LIE (good god!).
Seriously, wtf?
The words that tumbled out– matter of factly– were, “Seton Parish.”
but, after reading “Stuff White People Like,” I find myself very, very confused–
Add in the fact that I have a general fondness for chicken with waffles, and damn…
I may be black.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!– and to think my parents had me convinced that I was of Irish Catholic descent (complete with freckle-faced, red-headed grandfather). Honestly, does it GET ANY WHITER?
Something tells me I’m in for several more years of therapy…
(WAIT!– white people like therapy… no?)
